Vote for change

From our Island perspective, what does Jay Inslee have to show for his 12 years as our governor? Our failed ferry system, that’s what. Bob Ferguson, who is running to replace him, is a ditto in his policy and issues outlook.

Fellow islanders, we can change this by changing our voting. No one in charge in Olympia has demonstrated any political will to actually commit resources to our part of the state highway system. They don’t have to, since our votes are predictably theirs.

Start fresh and vote Republican for a change. The ferries can’t possibly be any worse and with new leadership, they might get better. Dave Reichart is running for Governor. He has already been to the island to listen to our issues and will be back in August – I appreciate his acknowledgment that we exist and our votes are important.

What we have now is intolerable. Our neighbor was in line for the early ferry this morning to bring her husband home from the hospital in Bellingham. All ferries were canceled due to unscheduled maintenance – no surprise with our decrepit fleet. Her husband is wheelchair-bound and not a candidate for flying in a small plane. He is stuck in the hospital and she is trying to figure out how to get him home. This is nightmare stuff.

Vote for change. Good things could happen.
