Many thanks to Community Arts Theatre Society and businesses for sponsoring the Gift of Christmas basket valued at $1,250 for a family in need at the San Juan Community Theatre Holiday Festival on Dec. 3. The CATS members contributed $800 for certificates from Friday Harbor Market Place to be used for groceries. San Juan Island merchants donated $450 in food, services, clothing and entertainment.

The beautifully decorated basket was bid on as a live auction item that included the gift certificates. The highest bidder had the honor to designate the lucky family who really needed those presents for a happy holiday.

A loud round of applause to Ace Hardware, The Bean Cafe, Friday Harbor Drug, Friday Harbor Ice Cream Co., Friday Harbor Thrift House, The Little Store, On Point Barber Shop, Salon Capella, San Juan Community Theatre, Second Act Consignment Boutique, Serendipity Used Books, Sweet Retreat and Espresso and The Toy Box. A special thanks to the generous bidder who chose the winning family.
