They’re off! The 181 shoe boxes that have been assembled from our San Juan community are on their way to children in over 140 countries and part of a 10 million gift project of Operation Christmas Child.

They’re off! The 181 shoe boxes that have been assembled from our San Juan community are on their way to children in over 140 countries and part of a 10 million gift project of Operation Christmas Child.

Generous members of our community have made this possible and deserve a heartfelt message of thanks. Special thanks to the Presbyterian Church for their generosity for being the collection site and the Mary Martha Circle ladies for their cheerful help coordinating this event.

Life Care Center and Christ the King also provided distribution and collection opportunities. Abundant thanks go to the lovely ladies at Kings Marine for saving bags of shoe boxes and to Toni and both Kims at Be Chic for their box collection as well. Key Bank’s helpful staff stored bags of wrapped shoe boxes for several months until distribution time. Friday Harbor Drug donated many items for these boxes with the help of Christine and Tracy.

Ositos helped with items to put inside the shoe boxes. Making all this easy was Friday Harbor Freight who cheerfully completed this part of the project by delivering the boxes to the collection site in Burlington a contribution they have made for many, many, years. God bless all of you who helped make this project possible and may each of you experience the joy your gifts will bring to children who will be thankful for any “surprise” they receive.

Merry Christmas and thanks to all for your generous community effort.
