Respecting those lost to COVID | Letter

I would like to respectfully suggest that all public buildings, privately-owned businesses, and individuals and families lower the flag to half-staff for a week when the coronavirus death toll reaches 200,000.

It seems fitting that we should take a moment to reflect on the tremendous losses our nation has suffered as a result of the pandemic — in terms of mortality, suffering, and hardship.

Regardless of our politics, everyone has been affected by the disease in one way or another. Let’s pause from our daily round of activities to remember others, especially those who have died.
