Yes, we can have ferry reservations

After years — nay, decades — of the ferry system telling islanders that they couldn’t set up a general reservation system for the ferry (they already have one for special users) — sometimes telling us it wasn’t legal to do so, sometimes telling us it would be impossible to implement — we now read in The Seattle Times (May 17) that they started a general reservations system for the Keystone-Port Townsend run.

Tell them you want local radio

Since San Juan Island Community Radio’s construction permit application was held up, due to possible interference with Canadian broadcasting by some 1,500 yards, we have contracted with an FCC-approved broadcast engineer to finish our application, which is now on file with the FCC for public inspection.

Correction to Island Rec guide

By now, San Juan Island residents should have received Island Rec’s 20-page summer recreation program guide in the mail. Regretfully, the dates listed for Bill & Rita Ament’s Summer Creative Arts Day Camp are wrong. The correct dates for their camps are July 7-10; July 14-17; July 21-24 and Aug. 4-7.

Likes the ‘new’ SanJuanJournal.com

The "new" San Juan Journal Online is such an improvement. I looked at the old one occasionally but was never impressed. I will become a regular reader.
