Orcas death trap | Letter

Luring orcas for selfish viewing pleasures and profit is dooming them. The strait is highly contaminated with PCBs and other persistent, bio-accumulative, and toxic compounds and chemicals that are killing their young. PCBs always go to the top of the food chain: the orcas. They bio-accumulate in the Orca’s blubber and are delivered in high concentrations to the offspring via the nursing mother. The offspring are slowly poisoned. How selfish are we? If we really cared about their survival we would drive them out of the strait. They have a better chance of survival by relocating.
