We have been attending Island Stage productions since we moved to Friday Harbor in 2001. Dan and Helen are an incredible gift to all Islanders and visitors.

Their current staging of “The Tempest” is extraordinary in every theatrical sense. A play about an island that is performed in a private field on our “magical” Island.

Daniel Mayes is brilliant as Prospero, and Sylvie Davidson brings a magical spirit and a lovely voice to Ariel. David Natale is mesmerizing as an agile and conniving Caliban. The Tempest provides plenty of comedy as well as drama. Even our young grandchildren laying on a blanket looking up at the stage were captivated the entire time; no small feat, in the age of IPhones and video games.
