The Garuda & I on First Street, a favorite venue for beaders as well as lovers of exotic jewelry and objets d’ art, is for sale.

“My husband and I also own and run Naknek Charters and Dive and we have decided that we want to focus more of our efforts on building the diving industry in the San Juan Islands,” owner Peggy Long said in an e-mail.

The store is having an inventory liquidation sale from Nov. 28 until the end of the year. Everything in the store (with the exception of consignment) will be 50 percent off.

“This is your chance to stock up for all of your holiday and winter projects,” Long wrote. “We will be open everyday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of year, closed Christmas Day. Come in early for the best selection.”

Garuda & I has an extensive selection of holiday earring kits. The store is also offering basic bead-stringing classes all month long; you can learn how to make basic necklaces, bracelets or earrings.

“We are offering our classes-on-the-go all month long,” Long wrote. “Check out our Web site or come into the store for a list. All classes are scheduled at your conveniece. Learn a new skill for the holidays.”
