The co-location of both ocean chemistry and detailed snapshots of microplankton communities enables researchers to investigate the impacts of ocean change (OA, hypoxia and warming). The IFCB takes ~1,000-2,000 photos per 5 mL every 20 minutes, or ~100,000 images per day!
