    Cards, calls and visits cheered her up

    I would like to thank the American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Center, and Thrift House for the cards and get-well wishes. Also, the Masonic Lodge for bring me a lovely dinner and dessert Saturday. It was much appreciated. All the cards, calls, and visits from all my friends really cheered me up.

Rick Larsen, D-Bellingham, in the 2nd Congressional District, which includes all of Island, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom counties, as well as parts of King and Snohomish counties.     Bellingham Herald endorses Ranker for state Senate

    San Juan County Councilman Kevin Ranker has been endorsed by The Bellingham Herald for 40th District state Senate.

    Ranker is a Democrat. Also on the ballot is Republican Steve Van Luven, former state representsative from Bellevue now living on Samish Island.

    Washington breaks voter registration record

    Washington has just set a new record for voter registrations, topping the 3.5 million figure set in the hotly competitive 2004 election year.
    The latest number, reported by the Elections Division of the Secretary of State’s Office on Oct. 7, is 3,515,393. The tally is expected to grow each day as crews process registration applications that were submitted by the major deadline Oct. 4.
