Cheryl Ann Turman passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 20, 2026, following complications from a respiratory illness in Bellingham, Washington. She was 74.
Born in Spokane, Washington, to Paul Max Simons and Willa Jean “Willie” (Lochridge) Simons Blomgren, Cheryl lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and devotion to her family.
Cheryl is survived by her brother, David (Glenda), brother, Michael, stepsister, Carlene (Bill); Her former husband, Merle (Bonnie), former brother-in-law, Tim (Sandy), former sister-in-law Dixie, her five children, daughter, Kristi; daughter, Connie; son, William and daughter-in-law, Brooke; son, Robert; son, Bruce and many nieces and nephews: Ben and Kristin S, Andrew S, Brenda S, Jonny and Deborah S, Jamie S, Brian S, Susy and John B, Liesl and Ken N, Lindi B, Carrie and Tim H, Amanda and Cameron H. She is also survived by her grandchildren – Ammah, Skyler, Tyler, and Karissa – and great-granddaughter, Juniper. She leaves behind many extended and stepfamily members, friends and beloved caregivers who will remember her spirited nature and unforgettable presence.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Paul Max Simons, mother, Willa Jean “Willie” Lochridge Simons Blomgren, beloved stepfather, Robert Blomgren, stepsister, Linda Ross; and her granddaughter, Arianna Turman.
Cheryl was an exceptionally creative and innovative soul — an accomplished seamstress, artist, entrepreneur, and visionary thinker. She had a deep love for animals, music (especially Elvis Presley), and the simple joys of life. Known for her humor, spunky spirit, and fearless personality, she lived life on her own terms.
Cheryl carried a deep faith in God and held a steadfast belief that one day she would meet her Creator. It is this faith that now brings comfort to her family, trusting she has found peace, restoration, and eternal rest in His presence.
After decades of courageously battling mental illness, Cheryl is now free — restored, healed, and at peace. Her legacy of creativity, strength, faith, and love lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Chewelah Pioneer Cemetery in Chewelah, Washington, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:30 p.m. at 6824 S. Highland Park Drive, Spokane, Washington.
