A vote for a balanced leadership Solutios

What if Friday Harbor could have the best of both worlds—healthcare leadership that stays focused on the Public Hospital District, and a mayor devoted entirely to the Town’s relationships, resilience, and communication?

This election gives us that opportunity.

As someone who has spent years studying and addressing the three core gaps facing our Town – our economic, collaborative, and communications gaps – I see clearly that Emilio Santiago is the leader ready to close them. During the mayoral primary, I was thrilled to get to know Emilio, and we immediately recognized our shared values, community passion, and strategic vision. Even without the title, he’s already been doing the work of a Mayor; fostering partnerships with regional leaders, collaborating with local agencies, and strengthening the lines of communication our town so badly needs.

Friday Harbor deserves a Mayor who not only represents the majority of our residents economically but also practices the proven principles of modern governance: open communication, inclusion, and ethical leadership. Emilio brings all of this, plus federal, state, and emergency governance experience, broad reach, and the courageous, curious mindset needed to adapt quickly and effectively.

Evan Perrolaz deserves recognition for his strong leadership in expanding healthcare access through the Public Hospital District, an essential role, especially in times of uncertainty. Yet, as this ballot also includes Proposition 1, a levy directly benefiting the district, voters should consider whether leading both the District and the Town best serves either.

Our Town needs a Mayor who can stay fully focused on local collaboration. Emilio Santiago has already proven he can build the relationships, trust, and teamwork that make real progress possible.

Please go vote for a balanced leadership solution.
