On July 26, San Juan Islands PREPARE deployed to Omak, Washington, to deliver provisions to members of the Colville Tribe displaced by wildfire.
Working in coordination with Washington Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WA VOAD), and with generous support from our island community, San Juan Islands PREPARE delivered essential supplies for 35 families. Donations included microfiber bedsheets, pillows, plush towels, laundry detergent, and children’s character towels.
The most beloved donations were the children’s dinosaur towels. It was wonderful to see smiles on the faces of tribal members as they received the supplies. They sent our volunteers on their way with warm hugs and heartfelt gratitude. Christie Merrill, President of WA VOAD and board member at American Red Cross Northwest Washington Region extended her gratitude to our community as well, “Be sure that the San Juan Islands community knows how much these gifts will be appreciated.”
San Juan Islands PREPARE extends its sincere thanks to everyone who made this response possible. One hundred percent of the funds donated to this effort went directly toward provisions for members of the Colville Tribe.
