Join The Whale Museum on July 6 at 7 p.m. for a killer whale talk presented by Dr. Michael Weiss. The talk is FREE and open to the public.
Killer whales are highly social animals with complex relationships. This talk will cover how these relationships shape individuals’ fitness and what this might mean for the recovery of the endangered Southern Resident killer whales. Dr. Michael Weiss is the Research Director of the non-profit Center for Whale Research. He has spent the last decade studying the behavior and population dynamics of Southern Resident killer whales, writing both his undergraduate and PhD theses on this topic. His current research focuses on how we can utilize our understanding of killer whale behavior to enhance conservation and management of endangered populations.
