It’s a Wednesday evening in early autumn as 25-30 people take their places, black folders filled with new music to learn. The buzz of conversion stops as the chorus looks up to a new face, a new baton to follow. Who that person will be is yet to be known.

Following the retirement of long-time director Angel Michaels, San Juan Singers is searching for a new leader. The San Juan Singers just celebrated more than 40 years as San Juan’s community chorus which welcomes all singers ages 12 and up. Each December the Singers’ Christmas concert begins our holiday season with traditional carols and sacred music. Talented local musicians accompany the group.

Spring concert rehearsals resume in January. This versatile chorus performs rock and roll, Celtic music, tunes from Broadway and world music. It’s always a surprise, and once again we are accompanied by numerous local musicians.

This September, who will direct the San Juan Singers? Could it be you? For more information, or to apply, please contact our steering committee chair, Judy Bentzen at 360-378-3139.
