Friday Harbor boys, girls basketball play ‘Crush in the Slush’ tournament

The Wolverine boys and girls varsity basketball teams traveled to Port Townsend for the 12th annual Crush in the Slush basketball tournament, Dec. 28-29. Eleven teams participated with each team playing just two games. On Dec. 28, the Wolverine boys took on Northwest School from Seattle. It was a close matchup with each team trading baskets and staying neck and neck to the very last few seconds. Friday Harbor prevailed winning by 1 point with a score of 58-57. The lady Wolverines had an easier contest playing the Port Townsend Red Hawks and winning their game with a score of 51-10.
On Dec. 29, the lady Wolverines took on the Battle Ground Tigers. This matchup was very close with the Tigers taking the win with a score of 36-33. The Wolverines boys played the Ferndale Golden Eagles. The score was very close till a few minutes remaining in the first half when the Eagles had a quick couple points. Upon returning to the court the Wolverines could not catch the Eagles. The Eagles took the win with a score of 55-43. None of these games were league matches.
