The menu featured soup and chicken salad, but it may have been the 68 hand-decorated, holiday themed, miniature Christmas trees that accounted for the outpour of attendance at Peace Island Volunteers’ second annual holiday luncheon.

Although, the chance to bid on a donated quilt, entitled “Storm at Sea,” may have been equally responsible for the 70-plus people that attended the fundraiser and luncheon, Dec. 2 at San Juan Golf & Country Club.

In addition to the Christmas tree silent auction, and bidding on the handmade quilt, donated by Rainshadow Quilt Guild, which raised $1,000 for the volunteers’ projects benefitting the medical center, attendees were treated to a performance of holiday season songs by the Island Carolers.
