Friday Harbor High School took third place at the regional Marine Advanced Technology Education competition at the Weyerhauser Aquatic Center, May 7, in Renton.

In its first-ever appearance at the regional M.A.T.E. competition, in which points are awarded for putting a self-constructed “remotely operated vehicle” through a series of underwater tasks, the Friday Harbor squad tallied 315 points, finishing ahead of six others schools, and also earned the Team Spirit 2011 regional award.
