William Ralph Effenberger

William Ralph Effenberger was born Dec. 13, 1951 in Dallas, Ore., and died April 9, 2006 in Friday Harbor after a short illness. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; stepchildren, Bobbie, Tori, Tarria and Roger; as well as many grandchildren and friends.

Bill loved NASCAR,  target shooting and books. He was a U.S. Marine from 1970-74 and served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and gunner. He fell out of a helicopter once while lighting a pipe. 

Everyone will miss Bill’s stories and his dry sense of humor. He was a life member of the VFW.  He raced cars and held a quarter-mile record for quite a few years.
