The Friday Harbor Wolverine Wrestling Team traveled to Tacoma to face off against wrestlers across the state.
Two Wolverines took to the mat during the event. Isaac Brumsickle, a senior in weight class 182, lost to Oroville High School’s Oscar Cervantes and Weston Swartz, a junior, wrestling in weight class 285, lost to Dylan Szolga from Reardan High School.
Since all of the regional high school wrestling tournaments in Washington were canceled in early February due to the snowstorm that inundated the Pacific Northwest. In place of the regional tournaments, Washington Interscholastic Activities Association converted the Feb. 15-16 state tournament at the Tacoma Dome into a 32-person bracket format across all six classifications — 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A, 2B/1B, girls — instead of the traditional 16.
