Wolverines to battle Orcas in playoff opener | Girls basketball

In the opening round of post-season play, the Wolverines will be looking to avenge a Jan. 27 loss at Orcas, which finished fourth in league play, at 9-5, and split its two-game regular-season series against Friday Harbor. Tip off is 4 p.m., Feb. 18, on the Vikings home court.

Buoyed by a 49-29 victory over league rival Concrete in their regular-season finale, Wolverines will open post-season play on the road, Feb. 18, at Orcas.

Friday Harbor outscored the Lions 19-3 in the final period to seal the win at home Feb. 10 and finish in third place in the Northwest 2B/1B League standings, at 10-4, and 14-6 overall.

With a win over the Vikings in the opening round of the 2B District playoffs, the Wolverines would advanced to the district championship game and face the winner of the district playoffs other opening round match up, featuring league champ La Conner and Darrington.

Friday Harbor would need back-to-back victories to advance to the regional 2B post-season tournament following a loss at Orcas in the district playoff opener, a double-elimination tournament hosted by Sedro Woolley High School. Second-round action gets under way Feb. 20 at Sedro Woolley.
