Wolverines take aim at league title in showdown against Darrington | Prep softball

Friday Harbor (7-1 league, 11-6 overall) muscled its way to the top of the Northwest 2B/1B League standings thanks to a razor-thin 3-2 win at home over La Conner May 1, avenging its only loss in league play (a 3-1 defeat at La Conner April 14) with the victory as well.

Only the Loggers stand in the way.

With just one league game remaining on its regular-season schedule, The Friday Harbor softball team is poised to clinch nothing less than a share of the league title with a win at home in its upcoming showdown against Darrington, Tuesday, May 12.

The Wolverines (7-1 league, 11-6 overall) muscled their way to the top of the Northwest 2B/1B League standings thanks to a razor-thin 3-2 win at home over La Conner May 1, avenging its only loss in league play (a 3-1 defeat at La Conner April 14) with the victory as well.

They followed up the win over the Braves by dismantling Orcas Island in both games of a double-header, May 4, and then edging past the Loggers two days later in an 8-6 win on the road, the Wolverines second win in as many games against Darrington (5-3 league, 10-5 overall) so far this season.

Friday Harbor can claim a share of the league crown, and possibly the championship, by sweeping its three-game season series against the Loggers.

The Braves (6-1 league, 10-5 overall) face Darrington twice before the end of regular-season play. The Wolveirnes wrap up their regular season schedule May 19 in a non-conference clash at home against 2A Sedro Woolley; game time is 4:45 p.m.
