Wolverines bring home quartet of all-league awards | F.H. Basketball

Friday Harbor’s Maggie Andersen earned all-league top honors for the second straight season for her performance on the basketball court.

Andersen, a senior and the Wolverines leading scorer, was selected to the Northwest 1A/2B League first team for the second year in a row. She was an all-league honorable mention pick as a sophomore.

The league’s post-season awards are determined by the league’s coaches.

Senior Kelsey Barnes also earned all-league honors. Barnes is a Northwest 1A/2B second-team selection.

The two seniors led the Wolverines to a second-place finish in league this season, at 10-2, one year after Friday Harbor posted 11 consecutive league wins to clinch its first league title in more than 20 years with a 11-1 record.

Friday Harbor’s only two league losses this season came at the hands of Darrington, which claimed the 2010-2011 league title with a record of 12-0.  The Wolverines finished the 2010/11 season with an overall record of 14-5. Darrington’s Hailey Wales earned league MVP honors.

On the men’s side, Friday Harbor’s Preston Ukra earned post-season honors as a second-team All-League selection. Ukra, a senior, led the Wolverines to a 11-3 record in Northwest 1A/2B League play and an 11-9 record overall.
