Senior Maggie Andersen tossed in a game-high 16 points and Larissa Nash added 12, as Friday Harbor led from start to finish in sweeping the two-game season series against its inter-island rival.

On the eve of Saturday’s showdown at Darrington, the Wolverines shifted into high gear with a 55-22 romp on the road Monday over Orcas.

Senior Maggie Andersen tossed in a game-high 16 points and Larissa Nash added 12, as Friday Harbor led from start to finish in sweeping the two-game season series against its inter-island rival. The Wolverines dominated the earlier matchup as well, a 64-23 blowout in Turnbull Gym in mid-December.

Friday Harbor jumped out to a 35-12 halftime advantage and bolstered its lead over the final two periods of play by outscoring the Vikings 20-10. Nine different players put points on the board as the Wolverines’ backups gave the starting five a rest while sealing the win in the second half. Senior Kelsey Barnes added nine points and Elle Guard had seven.

With the victory, the Wolverines improved to 7-1 in Northwest 1A/2B League play, and 11-4 overall.

They’ll square off against league-leading Darrington, undefeated in league competition, at 9-0, Saturday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on the Loggers home court.

Darrington tripped up the Wolverines Jan. 4 in Turnbull Gym, handing Friday Harbor, the defending league champ, a 45-39 defeat, its only loss against a league opponent this season.
