Track team off to a running start

The Friday Harbor Wolverines track team hosted La Conner, Mount Vernon and Concrete, Shoreline Christian and Lopez on Wednesday, March 20. Friday Harbor came out ahead in the men’s events with a total score of 159 and tied with Lopez in the women’s events at 94.

“Alex Holman and Katie Place finished first and second in the 100M dash. Alex also won the 200M dash. The women also took first in the 400 M relay. Kyson Jackson won the 300M hurdles and Emeron Geiser and Austin Wynne finished first and second in the Javelin,” coach Brock Hauke said.

“It was a very exciting meet and many athletes obtained personal records that day,” Lee Ann Russell, mother of one of the Friday Harbor athletes said.

The team will head to the Birger Solberg Invitational in Bellingham on April 6, where they will compete against Mount Lake Terrace, Lynnwood, Shorecrest, Sammamish, Stanwood and Shorewood.
