One year removed from a winless season, the San Juan Dragons are back in the playoffs and playing with a vengeance.

The Dragons came out on top of a 10-9 see-saw battle Saturday, at home, against Klahowya, to advance to the quarterfinals of the Washington Lacrosse Boys State Championship tournament.

The post-season victory, the Dragons (8-6) first since its win in the semifinal round of the 2010 Division II state championship, pits San Juan against Nathan Hale (14-3) in a quarterfinal matchup at Summit Fields in Seattle.

Klahowya capitalized on six early penalties by the Dragons to take a 6-5 lead at the half. The Dragons rallied after the break, scoring the next three goals of the contest to take a 9-6 lead, an advantage they would hold to the final bell. The Eagles tallied two goals to narrow the deficit, and the teams traded goals in the waning minutes of play.

Tate Brumsickle scored four goals to lead the Dragons and Sean Hills had three goals and three assists. Jacob Justiniano scooped 10 ground balls and Jacob Jackson had five saves to lead the San Juan defense.
