The Friday Harbor volleyball team collected its second win of the season over a Division 1A rival and remains unbeaten, at 5-0, with a three-game sweep at home, Oct. 3, over Meridian.

With a come-from-behind victory the week before over Mount Baker, the Wolverines start the 2013 season 2-0 in Northwest 1A Conference play.

Following Tuesday’s match up against Orcas, at home, the team’s second of the year against the Vikings, the Wolverines host Mount Vernon Christian, 4:30 p.m., Thursday in Turnbull Gym, and face Nooksack Valley on the road, Saturday, at 1:30 p.m.

Football: Wolverines fall to Trojans, 32-0

Three times the Friday Harbor football team were on the Trojans five-yard line with an opportunity to score.

But each time the Wolverines came away empty, as Meridian capitialized on turnovers and a formidable running game to tally a 32-0 victory, Friday, on Friday Harbor’s home field.

The Trojans jumped out to a 12-0 lead at the half and added another three touchdowns after the break to seal the win.

The Wolverines fell to 3-2 on the year. They face Division 1A rival Blaine on the road, Friday, beginning at 5:45 p.m.

Friday Harbor is home Oct. 18 to host Mount Baker; kick off is 6:30 p.m.

Girls soccer: Offense stalls in back-to-back losses

The Friday Harbor soccer team will look to rebound following back-to-back losses at home.

The Wolverines (2-4) fell 5-1 to Meridian, Oct. 3, and 3-1, Oct. 5 to Bear Creek.

They are on the road for five games, beginning Oct. 10 at Mount Vernon Christian.
