Orcas hospitality contributed to a memorable two-day Island Cup Regatta last weekend in West Sound. The Orcas team hosted a practice event Friday afternoon for the 35 sailing teams and a nice dinner for the 100 or so competitors following Saturday’s racing.

Saturday’s winds were light and continually shifting. Sunday’s blue skies came with a steady northerly which built to around 10 knots by day’s end, causing more than a few boats to capsize. North Kitsap High School finished in first place, followed by Bainbridge Island and Lincoln High School of Portland. Friday Harbor Team 1 (Per and Leah Black and Max and Addi Kessler) came in fourth, followed closely by Orcas 1 (Wiley Kau and Matia Schwartz in one boat, Axel Greening and Haley Moss in the other). This coming weekend is the District Championships In Bellingham.
