Home field advantage proved just the ticket for Friday Harbor’s Keegan Hebert, who shot a 42 to notch a personal best and share low-score honors in the Wolverines match against Grace Academy March 19 at San Juan Golf & County Club.
Grace Academy’s Jeremiah Lee and Austin Likes shot 42 as well to join Hebert in a three-way tie for the match’s low-score medal. Fellow junior Jesse Kowolitz shot a 47 to finish five strokes off the pace. Cole Thomas posted a 50 and Jordan Davis tallied a 54.
In the men’s team competition, Grace Academy outpaced the Wolverines, with its four low scorers shooting a combined 180 compared to Friday Harbor’s 193.
Grace Academy’s Emily VanDam, who finished 15th at the 2B state tournament a year ago, shot a 48 to lead the ladies’ field. Friday Harbor’s Joyelyn Roberts and Tyla McKey completed their first-ever nine-hole match in the contest at home against Grace Academy.
The Wolverines were home Tuesday, March 23, to host 2B rivals Shoreline Christian and Cedar Park Christian in a three-team regional match, and will be home to take on Lopez Island Tuesday, March 31, at San Juan Golf and Country Club; tee-off time is 4 p.m.
