Freshman Riley Rousar missed the cut by three strokes.

As a team, Friday Harbor finished fourth of five teams. King’s High School dominated, its men’s squad all shooting in the 70s and claiming the top six spots.

But individually, Cuomo shined. She shook off one triple to par-birdie, then shook off another triple to shoot five pars in a row. She finished with 94, three strokes ahead of the No. 2 finisher and 15 strokes ahead of the cut. She won the league championship a week earlier with 93.

“She has the ability to shoot in the mid-80s,” Head Coach Jack Rice said. “She tends to gravitate to the level she plays with.”

He added, “Her biggest challenge was trying to keep her composure. The game was a lock. All she had to do was play her own game and she was going to advance.”
