Friday Harbor’s Meeker claims second-straight league championship | Golf

A two-time state tournament qualifier, Kendra Meeker, a junior, shot 46 on the front nine and 47 on the back nine to claim a second consecutive first-place finish in the Northwest 1A/2B/1B League Championship, tallying a solid 90 over 18 holes.

Friday Harbor’s Kendra Meeker outpaced her closer competitor by nine strokes to clinch a second-straight league championship at Gallery Golf Course, Friday, May 1, in Oak Harbor.

A two-time state tournament qualifier, Meeker, a junior, shot 46 on the front nine and 47 on the back nine to claim a second consecutive first-place finish in the Northwest 1A/2B/1B League Championship, tallying a solid 90 over 18 holes.

Lopez Island’s Sarah Reeve shot a 102 to claim the league’s 2nd Place medal and teammate Marne Cook finished in third place, one stroke behind Reeve, with a score of 103.

Friday Harbor’s Devon Rouser finished 17th among the 20 golfers competing in the Ladies league championship, with a score of 200 over 18 holes. The Lobos team finished first overall among six teams competing at the championship to claim the league crown; Friday Harbor finished fourth.

With a second-straight league individual title in tow, Meeker advances to the District 1 tournament Thursday, at North Bellingham.
