Cody Price shoots 75-77, wins San Juan Open by 8 strokes | Golf

Former Friday Harbor High School golf standout Cody Price won the San Juan Open over the weekend, shooting 75-77 to win his first Open on his home course. Three-time Open winner Ron Bates finished second with 160. Bob Krueger finished third with 161.

Three-time Open winner Ron Bates finished second with 160. Bob Krueger finished third with 161.

Barbara Duzan was the women’s winner with 178. She also won the prize for longest drive on Sunday.

It was the third year that Price and Bates went toe to toe at San Juan. In the 2009 Open, Price shot 76 to Bates’ 77 to finish the first round in the lead by 1, but shot 78 to Bates’ 77 in the second round and lost in sudden death. In 2008, Price gave Bates stiff competition but faltered by the end of the first round.

Saturday, Price also won the prize for longest drive.
