Offense unleashed: Wolverines prevail in seesaw battle | Softball

The Friday Harbor softball team shook off the rust, fired up the offense and left Concrete in the dust to seal a 14-11 win, notching its highest-scoring output of the season along with the victory.

At the top of the batting order, leadoff hitter Casey Rothlisberger, 2-of-4 at the plate, scored two runs, Gabe Lawson had two hits and a pair of runs as well, and Amer Melic was 2-of-3 at the plate and added three runs.

Friday Harbor snapped a scoreless tie and grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning after Cooper-West and junior Peter Holt swatted back-to-back singles, and Gabe Lawson and Amer Melic each drew a walk to send Cooper-West across home plate with the Wolverines first run of the contest. Junior Gabe Lawson tossed a 2-hit shutout over five innings and drove in six of the team's 12 runs with a single, a triple and a home run. Seniors Peter Holt and Mitch Coleman had two hits apiece in the lopsided win.
