After the celebrities have gone and the last plate of salmon has been enjoyed, there’s still some great golf to be played or watched.
The San Juan Leo Club’s fourth annual Spring Scramble is June 7, 4:30 p.m. check-in, at San Juan Golf and Country Club. The scramble takes place two days after the Islanders Bank San Juan Island Celebrity Golf Classic. The nine-hole scramble includes contests for accurate drive, long drive and hit inside the circle on the eighth hole.
All proceeds benefit Leo Club activities. The Leos, a high school chapter of the Lions Club, have been involved in the San Juan Island Prevention Coalition’s New Year’s Eve Party and the Children’s Festival, helped build the replacement dock on Egg Lake, and assisted older residents with home projects.
Islanders Bank is the primary sponsor of the scramble.
Here’s the schedule:
-- 4:30 p.m.: Check-in.
-- 4:45 p.m.: Putting contest.
-- 5:30 p.m.: Shotgun start.
Buffet dinner, awards, auction and club officer induction follow.
Entry fee, which includes dinner and awards, is $35 for adults, $10 for students and Leos. Dinner-only for adults is $15, for Leos $10.
Sponsorships are $50 gold, $100 platinum; club sponsorships are $200 gold, $500 platinum.
