Shawn Cutting isn’t likely to forget his first-ever outing against Orcas.
The junior southpaw tossed five innings of no-hit ball in leading the Wolverines to a 15-0 win in the opening game of the April 17 doubleheader at Hartman Field. And if that weren’t enough, Cutting, who struck out 10 Vikings, also had two base hits and scored two runs.
“I’ve put in a lot practice and a lot of hard work over the years,” Cutting said. “I guess it’s paying off.”
In the sequel, the Wolverines broke open a closely-contested game with six runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-1 advantage. They added two more in the fifth to seal a 11-1 victory in five innings.
Junior Roy Taylor earned the win.
Next: The Wolverines (8-1 league, 10-4 overall) travel to Darrington April 23 for a doubleheader, and to Orcas April 27.
