Nelsen 'three-Petes' in Wilson Blackmouth Derby, leads with nine days remaining | Fishing

Pete Nelsen of Shaw Island leads the Frank Wilson Memorial Blackmouth Derby with a 20.95-pound catch that won him Week 8 honors and propelled him to the top of the leaderboard.

The sixth annual derby began Feb. 1 and continues until April 15. Weekly prizes are being awarded for the largest fish weighed for that week; Nelsen won weeks 7, 8 and 9. The end-of-the-derby prizes are $1,000, first place; $500, second; $250, third; $1,000, mystery fish.

All proceeds from entry fees support San Juan Island Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
