The last time Lynden Christian and Friday Harbor met on the football field, the game was settled by three points, a Reid Bode field goal.

Ah, but that game was settled 23-20 in overtime. Friday night? Again settled by a Bode field goal. But this time, it was the only three points of the whole game.

Friday Harbor lost 3-0 at home last night in possibly the lowest-scoring game in its history. At least in memory. (Does anyone remember a game lost by a safety?)

Late in the fourth quarter, after an evening of scoreless football played in cold and wind, the Lyncs recovered a Wolverine fumble, setting up a Bode 32-yard field goal kick. The kick put the Lyncs on the scoreboard.

Bode bested his game-winning Oct. 9 kick of 27 yards.

The Wolverines fell to 3-6 overall; next up, they travel to King’s on Thursday; kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. The Lyncs (3-6 overall, 2-4 Northwest Conference) are seeded No. 3 going into post-season and travel to Nooksack Valley on Thursday for an elimination game.

The district playoff game is Nov. 10, TBA.
