Nooksack Valley Pioneers overrun Friday Harbor 49-7 | Football

The Nooksack Valley Pioneers came to Friday Harbor not only to play football, but to set some records as well.

The No. 9-ranked Pioneers overran the Wolverines 49-7. The Pioneers improved to 3-1; the Wolverines fell to 2-2.

Friday Harbor's Michael Ausilio scored for Friday Harbor in the first quarter, with a wild 75-yard kickoff return. That seemed to only prime Nooksack Valley's defensive pump.

The Pioneers amassed 519 yards of total offense (379 rushing, 137 passing) and held Friday Harbor to 140 yards of total offense.

Three Pioneers rushed for 100 yards, a Nooksack Valley team record. Nick deGrasse had 12 rushes for 110 yards and two touchdowns, including a 90-yard kickoff return TD, also a Nooksack Valley record. Tyler Perry had 13 rushes for 106 yards and three TDs. Anthony Reese had 6 rushes for 110 yards and scored his third interception return TD of the season (44 yards).

Nooksack Valley Coach Robb Myhre told The Bellingham Herald, "A lot of the credit has to go to the guys up front. They played a physical game against a physical team. The holes were there, and the kids ran hard."
