Friday Harbor and Nooksack Valley kickoff tonight at 6 p.m.
September 25, 2009 · Updated 3:29 PM
Kickoff for tonight's home game between the Friday Harbor football team and the Nooksack Valley Pioneers is 6 p.m., one hour earlier than previously scheduled.
The J.V. game begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Friday Harbor football field.
The Wolverines (2-1) should have their hands full in this showdown between 1A regional rivals.
Nooksack Valley, ranked No. 9 among state 1A teams in the latest AP high school poll, reached the quarterfinals of the state 1A tournament in 2008 and take the field this season with most their starting lineup intact from a year ago.
The Pioneers (2-1) opened the season with a win over Division 2A Mount Baker and nearly toppled another 2A team, Sedro-Woolley, in a two-point loss in the season's second week. They were never tested in a 55-6 rout of Division 2B Concrete a week ago.
