Sports scholarship named for Bobby Boyce; fund-raising dinner April 18

The first annual Bobby Boyce Memorial Sports Scholarship Fund-raising Dinner is April 18, 4-6 p.m., at American Legion Post 163.
The event is open to Post 163 members and guests. Proceeds will go to the Bobby Boyce Memorial Sports Scholarship Fund.
Tickets are $12 and are available at the Legion. On the menu: Barbecued salmon, coleslaw, garlic bread and potluck desserts.
Boyce (1923-2008) served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His ship was torpedoed and sunk off the Aleutian Islands. After the war, was a commercial fisherman and later ran the fuel dock in Friday Harbor.
He was active in the American Legion form ore than 50 years and served as post commander. He helped start the Friday Harbor High School football program.
