Friday Harbor bested the elements and Darrington to bag 4-out-of-5 matches and a victory at home Friday in the season opener.
Junior Hannah Snow and sophomore Jenny Dunn netted an impressive 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles and set a tone for their teammates to follow.
Shanti Neff-Barro and Alex MacDonald hung an 8-2 loss on Darrington’s Jill Goldman and Hailey Wales to claim a win in the clash of No. 2 doubles teams.
In the No. 3 doubles showdown, Friday Harbor’s Madi McPadden and Sierra Dawson needed two more games than their teammates but still pulled off an 8-4 victory over the Loggers Desi Combs and Alex Perryman as Wolverines swept the doubles competition.
In singles, senior Charlotte Guard dominated Darrington’s Ally White in tallying a victory in No. 1 singles by a score of 8-2. Mandy Powell tallied the Loggers' only win in match play by downing Friday Harbor junior Tori Riggins by a score of 8-2.
Next: The Wolverines are on the road Tuesday at Coupeville. They travel Friday to Darrington.
