Dustin Howard shot 37 in his debut as a Friday Harbor Wolverine golfer Thursday, medaling at par-35 Lopez.

The Wolverines defeated the Lopez Lobos by 30 strokes, 241 to 271.

Jordyn Taylor shot 39. William King shot 50. Quinn Bune shot 51. Taylor Molloy, getting used to a new swing, had a bad hole and finished with 64. Megan Cuomo, rusty since her last golf outing in summer, shot 51.

Coach Bryan Germain was excited about Howard’s debut. “Dustin’s a good golfer. I’ve been trying to get him to play for three years, and finally, as a senior, in his last year of eligibility, he decided to play. And he’s not just a great golfer, he’s a great kid to be around.”

Next: The Wolverines (1-0) host La Conner on Tuesday, 4 p.m.
