The Friday Harbor volleyball team advanced into the second round of the 1A District playoff bracket with its second victory of the season in three straight games over Meridian, Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Lynden Christian High School.

The Wolverines (12-6) fell into the consolation bracket following a loss to South Whidbey in the opening round of the district playoffs.

With the victory over the Trojans, Friday Harbor now faces Nooksack Valley, Saturday, Nov. 2, in a "loser-out" elimination game, and with a berth in the consolation bracket finale on the line. The Wolverines fell in three straight game to the Pioneers (8-8) in a mid-season match at Nooksack Valley. The winner will likely match up against South Whidbey in the consolation final.

Meanwhile, the Friday Harbor girls soccer team was ousted from post-season play on the heels of a 7-1 opening round playoff loss, Wednesday, to Kings High School.

The Wolverines, the 2013 Northwest 1A/2B League champion, defeated Mount Vernon Christian 5-3 Monday, at home, in the final game of the regular season to remain undefeated, at 7-0, in league play.
