Matthew Porter hoped to extend his run toward a state track title Saturday at the 1A State Track Meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
He was scheduled to compete in the triple jump Saturday; results were unavailable because of holiday deadlines. See SanJuanJournal.com for updates and photos.
Friday, Christine GrosJacques placed 16th in high jump, missing the cut of eighth place or better for the finals.
Whitney Porter cleared 4 feet 8 inches but, because of a conflict with competing in hurdles, she was unable to complete the high jump competition and finished 13th. In the 100-meter hurdles, she finished 13th with a time of 17.52.
Kelsey Barnes recorded a distance of 33 feet 41/2 inches in the shot put, placing ninth.
Matthew Porter competed in two of his three events Friday. His long jump was 19 feet 6 inches; it had not been determined where he placed. His time in the 400-meter dash was 51.67, earning him ninth place.
