Four wins in a row. Four consecutive shutouts. The Friday Harbor volleyball team is on a roll.

After knocking off three Northwest 1A/2B League rivals in succession, Mount Vernon Christian, Concrete and Cedar Park Christian, all in three straight games, the Wolverines continued their string of shutouts with a victory over 1A regional rival Blaine, Saturday, at home.

Though winless on the year, at 0-11, the Borderites put up a fight but Friday Harbor shook off a slow start to claim the first game 25-20, netted the second at 25-14, and withstood a fierce see-saw battle to bag the third game at 27-25, along with the match.

With the win the Wolverines improved to 7-3 overall, and remain one game behind league-leading La Conner, at 3-1.

The Wolverines and La Conner (4-0, 8-3) will square off on the Braves home court, Tuesday, with the race for the 2012 league title on the line.

With momentum and a four-game win streak on their side, the Wolverines face perhaps the toughest stretch of the 2012 season, beginning Tuesday with the Braves.

They host league rival Darrington (2-2) Thursday, at 4:30 p.m., and face Shoreline Christian (2-2) on the road, Oct. 23, in their regular-season finale. In between, they face regional 1A rival Lynden Christian on the road, Saturday, at 1:30 p.m.

With victories over Blaine and Mount Baker, Friday Harbor is 2-1 against its 1A post-season rivals.
