FH nets victory over winless Pioneers, 5-1 | Girls Soccer
More birthdays, more often. Perhaps that's the trick.
The Friday Harbor girls soccer team delivered a deftly wrapped birthday present to first-year Head Coach Paul Hopkins and to assistant Kevin Cullen, and got back on the winning track with a 5-1 victory at home, Saturday, over Nooksack Valley.
With the win, the Wolverines put the brakes on a four-game scoreless losing skid and improved to 4-5 overall, 3-2 in league, with the victory over the winless Pioneers.
"We've been practicing on making more cuts and more give-and-goes, and creating better opportunities to score," Hopkins said.
The Wolverines grabbed an early lead and were never tested by the Pioneers, winless in nine games this season.
Friday Harbor faces league rival Mount Vernon Christian on the road, Thursday, and hosts Concrete Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m.
