More birthdays, more often. Perhaps that's the trick.
The Friday Harbor girls soccer team delivered a deftly wrapped birthday present to first-year Head Coach Paul Hopkins and to assistant Kevin Cullen, and got back on the winning track with a 5-1 victory at home, Saturday, over Nooksack Valley.
With the win, the Wolverines put the brakes on a four-game scoreless losing skid and improved to 4-5 overall, 3-2 in league, with the victory over the winless Pioneers.
"We've been practicing on making more cuts and more give-and-goes, and creating better opportunities to score," Hopkins said.
The Wolverines grabbed an early lead and were never tested by the Pioneers, winless in nine games this season.
