Senior Roy Taylor smacked a two-run single to put Friday Harbor out in front for good as the Wolverines notched their second win of the season in a 4-1 victory on the road Tuesday over Granite Falls.

With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the fourth, Taylor snapped the stalemate and delivered what proved to be the game-winning run with a hard-hit single that scored two. Senior Tanner Buck capped the non-conference win with a solo home run in Friday Harbor's final at-bat.

On the mound, senior lefty Shawn Cutting held Granite Falls, a Division 2A team, to just a single run over the first five innings in notching his second win of the season and, after tossing 70-plus pitches, gave way to sophomore Austin Lambright for the final two innings of play. Lambright and company held the Tigers, the 2A state champs in 2006, scoreless over their final two at-bats to secure the win.

The Wolverines improved to 2-0 and will square off against Northwest 1A/2B League rival Darrington at home Friday, beginning at 4 p.m. at Hartman Field.
