Wolverines prevail in two of three outings; Coupeville is still a tough hurdle | Boys Tennis
The Friday Harbor Wolverines boys tennis team has prevailed two of the last three outings, with wins against South Whidbey and Lake Stevens and Coupeville continuing to be the toughest hurdle on the courts.
On Oct. 2 at home vs. Coupeville, Elwyn Pratt and Kevin Malone won in No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 7-5. Malone and Shaughn Anderson teamed up for a doubles exhibition match and prevailed 6-0, 6-0 to give the Wolverines another bright spot in the day.
Parker Satin lost 3-6, 1-6, and Ryan Cole lost 4-6, 0-6 in No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Zack Reitan and Hayden Place lost 6-7, 6-7 in No. 1 doubles. No. 3 doubles Stephen Chadwick and Cody Coyne lost 6-4, 2-6, 0-6.
Sept. 30 vs. South Whidbey, the Wolverines won the No. 1 and 2 singles matches and the No. 1 doubles match to claim the day.
Satin, No. 1 singles, won 8-6. Place, No. 2 singles, won 8-4. In other singles matches, Reitan lost 5-8, Pratt won 7-4, Chadwick lost 1-8.
In No. 1 doubles, Place and Satin won 8-2. Chadwick and Pratt lost 2-8. Coyne and Anderson lost 6-8.
Sept. 29, the Wolverines defeated Lake Stevens in five of six matches: Satin, No. 1 singles, 8-2; Cole, No. 2 singles, 8-4; Place and Reitan, No. 1 doubles, 7-6, 6-2; Pratt and Chadwick, No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-1.
Coyne and Anderson lost their doubles match, 3-6, 1-6. Satin and Cole won their doubles match, 8-5.
Next: The Wolverines traveled to South Whidbey Oct. 5. They travel to Lynden on Oct. 8 and South Whidbey on Oct. 11.
