Bates 'wins one for the Kiwi' at San Juan Golf and Country Club | Golf
October 5, 2010 · 4:41 PM
Ron Bates won the San Juan Golf and Country Club club championship, in competition that ended Sept. 12.
It’s Bates' second club championship; he won in 2006. Bates defeated Thane Bolger, Steve Duzan and Jim Schuman for this year's title.
“This year there is a large asterisk on the trophy, without nine-time club champion Phil McKee in the field, who is recovering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma," Bates said. "I went out and won this one for the Kiwi."
Jan Cyre is this year's women's club champion.
